IQMI is a private company that provides secure quota management support, information and services to the British Columbia commercial fishing industry. IQMI provides to its clients a real-time listing service with an up-to-date view of quota available for trade or lease.

T4Bi provided a unique and ground breaking solution to IQMI which enables recreational fishermen to purchase Halibut Quota for catch on their Licenses.

The Challenge

The challenge was to provide a secure intuitive application that fishermen could use without training and with confidence in the confidentiality of the information provided.

Solution Highlights

T4Bi developed an online application enabling recreational fishermen to purchase Halibut Quota for catch on their Licenses. The Project is a unique example, and a test case in the industry, for the allocation of catch quota in a fishery among commercial and recreational fisheries.

The systems developed are used by recreational fishermen. There are 1000’s of unique visitors and 100,000’s of transactions each season. The application is not yet highly publicized due to the trial nature of the business venture.
